The Plant Doctor Consultation Services
Jeff Salmon "The Plant Doctor" is available for a wide variety of consultation services. Jeff has been working in and around Nurseries since birth and enjoys expertise in most areas of horticulture. Elementary school years were spent weeding and merchandising garden centers. Middle School found Jeff in charge of rodent/rabbit control at Arbordale and his start in customer service. High School time was split between plant care in the Nursery, Customer service and Landscape Installation Crews. In 1973 he was the youngest person to pass the New York State Nurserymen's Certification test. During full time college in Business studies Jeff was found managing the Arbordale Garden Center and directing the creative side of Landscape Design. Since then Jeff has always continued his study of horticulture and landscape design. Past interests have included being a member of the NYS Nurserymen's Certification Board, BOCES Horticulture Curriculum advisor, Niagara Orleans BOCES Curriculum Advisor, Servistar Garden Centers Board of Advisors, Servistar/Home & Garden Showplace Advisory Board (7 years), Truserv Owner Advisory Committee, and currently co-chair of Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin D. Martin House Landscape Restoration Committee.
Consultation Services:
 | Plant Identification and care - a walk around the property discussing how to improve, identify and care for the existing landscape. $60 per hour including travel time. |
| Landscape Design Master Planning - Using years of plant knowledge with his passion for design. Jeff will create outdoor spaces for your lifestyle. It starts with your family interview of how you hope to use your outdoor space and concludes with a scale drawing with all supplies listed. A fan of Frank Lloyd Wright and "organic architecture" if you want a yard that it is a outdoor living room then you want a want a Jeff Salmon Design. $100 per hour and flat rate. |
| Pond Maintenance and care - If you're having a problem with green water or fish dying then you need a visit by Salmon. Jeff will help you in problem diagnosis or in system planning. If you inherited a system and just need instruction - just call Jeff 688-9125 $60 per hour including travel time. |
| Pond Building - Many times a pond get started but never finished right. Jeff is available for construction assistance. Many people use Jeff to create or finish their waterfall. Staff calls him "The Stone Whisperer" for his uncanny ability to turn a pile of rocks into a natural looking garden feature. $100 per hour including travel time. |
| Indoor plant care -Professionally caring for tropical plants since 1973, Jeff can assist in problem diagnosis, care or interior design. Training office staff on care is popular. $60 per hour including travel time. |
| Property Maintenance Review- Commercial or Residential - combining years of lawn and plant care knowledge with 20 years of selling and servicing professional turf care equipment. Jeff will review contracts for property maintenance, train in-house maintenance staff or help plan a seasonal to do list. Fee is based on size of property or project. |
